Sanjay Shah: Sharp Mind, Open Heart

Headquartered in London, England, Solo Capital Limited is an international boutique financial services company that specializes in financial services such as proprietary trading, professional sports investments and consulting. It goes by several other names such as Solo Capital UK and Solo Capital Markets. Incorporated in September 2011, the firm has in a span of roughly 4 years transformed into a multimillion organization, with a net worth of £15.45 million, assets amounting to £67.45 million and cash flow of £30.26 million as at the end of March 2015. Its success is attributable to its founder and CEO, Sanjay Shah.

Mr. Shah is an exemplary businessman whose prowess in business has seen him earn handsome profits over the years. In the year ending 31 March 2011 he managed to earn a whooping £19 million. He owns more than three dozen other companies across London and various other locations across the globe such as Dubai, Luxembourg and Malta. What is most fascinating about his success story as a businessman is that he did not start out as a star business student but rather as a medical student. He later felt that medicine was not where his passion lied and instead opted to become an accountant working for various investment banks over the years. His career as an accountant was cut short by the 2009 financial crisis rendered him redundant. With few prospects for a job, he decided to open his own brokerage company which eventually led to the creation of Solo Capital.

Aside from business, Mr. Shah is also well known for his philanthropic activities and is particularly known for “Autism Rocks”, an organization which raises awareness about Autism as well as money for research through hosting concerts. Mr. Shah, whose own son was diagnosed with autism at the age of 4, got the idea to raise money through holding concerts while having tea with Snoon Dogg. Since then, Autism Rocks has featured several celebrities such as Lenny Kravitz and Drake to mention a few. He is also a trustee of Autism Research Trust where he and his wife have made individual donations.
