Rocketship Public School Education Pillars

Rocketship Education is a non-profit school network that receives facilities financing from the Turner-Agassi Charter School Facilities Fund. However, rocketship operates independently. In 2006, Preston Smith and J. Danner combined efforts to start the nonprofit charter. The school network model rotates between Humanities, STEM, Learning Lab and Enrichment. The charter school headquarters its central operations in Redwood City, California.

The school is built on three pillars including personalized learning which specializes in tailoring instructions, contents together with the learning experience of all potential students. The second pillar is known as talent development. The pillar assists in investing in the growth and development of all members to ensure that they unleash their full potential in the classroom and outside world. The third pillar is the parent power. The Rocketship school associates with the parent to unleash the parents’ power to champion their children education. Additionally, the power of parent also enables high-quality publics’ schools to thrive.

Rocketship started its first network school in San Jose, California. The first group of students excelled on California’s state assessment. As a result of excellence, the school earned a lot of praises from the community for being the first of its kind to support low-income students. Later on, rocketship managed to open six more charter school in California. In the year 2013, John Danner resigned from his position and Smith succeeded him by becoming the chief executive officer of the network school. Over the years, the rocketship grew and expanded in various different regions including Washington, D.C. in 2016 the charter school created a partnership with apple tree institute and started offering preschool services.

The school administration team comprises of one administrator with two assistant principals. In addition to the team is also a business operations manager along with an office manager. The top-level management team is responsible for leading a team of teachers, together with the support staff. Additionally, they provide guidance and directions to all the lower departments leaders. Office managers supervise parent commitment and student information systems. And the business operations manager helps ensure the school has a constant practice across all areas. The manager is also responsible for ensuring all students are safe.
